Fertilizers, Pesticides, and Herbicides often have harsh side effects to our environment. They leach into the soil during crop watering and rain. Eventually these chemicals are carried into our streams and rivers eventually flowing into the Ocean. The plants that absorb that water , the fish that live in that water, the animals who drink are exposed to the chemicals. Through this cycle humans eat those effected plants, fish, and animals as well as drink that water exposing ourselves to the chemicals.
Natural fertilizers can remove the chemical contamination from the scenario and still help create amazing crops and gardens. Natural fertilizers help add proteins back into the soil. Seaweed , Bone Meal , Blood Meal , Fish Emulsion , Bat Guano , Corn Meal , Alfalfa Meal , and Worm Castings are just a few of the natural options. Cover crops are also an option. Cover crops can also benefit your soil preventing leaching , erosion , adding nutrients , weed reduction , adding nitrogen , even aerating the soil improving water flow.
