Palawan Peacock Pheasant

Palawan Peacock Pheasant

(Polyplectron emphanum)

One of the most breathe taking of birds the Palawan Peacock Pheasant dawns vibrant beetle sheen blues and blacks. The male can opne his tail like a peacock would and has a multitued of eyes just as the peacock. The males stunning appearance is far more striking than the female. The male can be 3 years old before his plummage is fully colored, however. In captivity the Palawan Peacock Pheasant is not a bird a begginger should try to raise. They are not hardy in all weather and prefer cages with more natural looking enviroment. Chicks do well if reared by the mother but can be hard to raise if incubated.
